Göteborgs Rapé originated from one of these blends and, when snus production was regulated in 1915, it was chosen by a committee at Swedish Tobacco Monopoly as one out of twenty five brands to make the cut. “Rapé” means grated in French and descibes the way snus used to be ripped back in the old days by French high society. As far as strength goes, Göteborgs Rapé Original Portion sits at the 10 mg/g level and is at the higher end of a regular strength snus. It has a mild tobacco taste with a mix of floral hints, fresh herbs and juniper berries that marry together beautifully and enhance the original flavor of this age-old snus.
